Spotlight on Fine Motor Skills!
This task is one of our newest fine motor tasks (FMT).
This intermediate level task will require several skills and concepts, primarily fine motor skills, but also including matching and assembly. The student will be working with four different thread sizes. The task requires the use of both hands (or assistance from a helper to hold the base). The nuts may be started by hand, but will require the wrench to turn the nut further. Extra nuts are included to replace those that tend to wear out over time. The wrench adjusts to the different sizes by operating the thumbscrew. The sturdy wood base includes rubber feet to increase stability.
Students will probably use their dominant hand to operate the wrench, so one extension might be to have the student use their non-dominant hand.
